Persistence

If you ever have a doubt that making it to the finish line matters, just think about all the races you've ever seen people run.  Or the ones you've been in yourself.  The best part, is the end.  Knowing that you've won.

Our faith in God is described as a race.  Something we have to keep on running until the day we die.  We know the lesson of the turtle and the hare talks about persistence, because the turtle stays the course, but the rabbit goes astray.  Imagine what would have happened if the rabbit had stayed the course.

Turtles run pretty fast in person

A lot of us consider ourselves to be rabbits.  Running fast in every direction, but it seems like the turtle finishes the race before we do.  It's time to flip that script.

Focus is everything.  We have to stop allowing ourselves to be distracted by every whim that comes along.  Anger can be good, but only if it does not cause us to drift from our purpose and our destiny.  We have to be the master of our own minds.  If we are not, someone else will be.

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." Hebrews 12:1-3 (NIV)

Whenever you feel like giving up, rest, clear your mind, and come back to the task at hand.  You are the only one who can fulfill YOUR destiny.  Fulfill it.  Be the change that you are looking for in this world.  Your persistence, your drive, your motivation, and your inspiration will help someone else along the way to do something better in their own lives.  And then, you will find out just what the reward of persistence really is:  knowing that you have brought yourself and others to victory.

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." -Galatians 6:9
